In conclusion

In the instance of this Cheetah, the original restoration work was very poorly done with the inevitable result that leaks occurred. The few photo's included in the above pages does not cover all the bodges and problems discovered which had to be corrected and fixed.

Whilst restoring a Karmann Coachbuilt may seem a daunting task, provided you have the right tools, the right skills and the right materials, anything is possible. However having said that, if you don't have any of those requirements I would advise leaving it to someone who can do it properly. Fixing and correcting poor workmanship takes a lot of time, a lot of money and a lot of skill.

I am pleased to report that since the corrective work detailed above has been completed, this Cheetah has remained totally bone dry on the inside and joins the ranks of one of the best Karmann's of today. Mission Accomplished!

If you need work doing on your Karmann or have a Karmann restoration to be done, please do feel free to contact myself via the forum and I would be pleased to have a chat with you.
